Ultrasonic level transmitters are based on the principle of measuring the ‘time of flight’. The ultrasonic sound pulse is transmitted by a piezo-electric transducer. Ultrasonic sound reflects from the fluid and is detected by the transducer. Time taken to travel by the ultrasonic sound is calculated and converted into distance by the on-board microcontroller.
